My Christmas shopping plans abruptly changed this morning as I discovered Bobbin and Violet had hatched yet another brood of chicks - these four little ones broke out of their shells only this morning. I had to set to work preparing their food by grinding up fish food, chook pellets and grit. It smells a bit wiffy but this diet seems to work a treat as B & V's last hatchings are almost as big as their parents now.
Edit: Since posting the above, I couldn't resist putting (as much as common sense told me not to) the quail in the Nativity scene I'd sewn last week. They rather fancied it in the manger, cushioned with thick wool yarn.
